  • and More

Pawlicy Advisor Tip: We recommend adding routine care for pets under age two due to the high number of wellness visits at this age. Older pets may not save money with a routine care add-on. Learn more: Are Wellness Plans Worth It ?

Waiting Periods

Fetch Pet Insurance has a 15-day waiting period that begins the day after you enroll. Fetch will cover illnesses and injuries that occur after this mandatory waiting period is over; any claims submitted during this time frame will be considered a pre-existing condition and excluded from insurance coverage.

  • Accidental injuries: 15 days*
  • Unexpected illnesses: 15 days*
  • Knee and Hip injuries: 180
  • Wellness coverage: 0 days

The waiting period for knee injuries can be waived upon completion of a veterinary exam within the first 30 days of enrollment to determine there are no relevant pre-existing conditions. You must submit detailed medical records from that vet visit when first filing a claim.

*In Maine, there is no waiting period for accidents and injuries, and a 15-day waiting period for illnesses, as of January 1, 2023.

How it Works

Fetch works by reimbursing up to 90% of your vet bills when a pet gets unexpectedly sick or injured. Once your deductible is met, Fetch will pay your insurance claim at the policy's pre-set reimbursement rate (selected at the time of enrollment) up to the annual coverage limit.

Expert Insights

Is Fetch Pet Insurance good?

"Fetch Pet Insurance plans offer comprehensive coverage for things that other providers charge extra for or don't cover at all. Some examples include up to $1,000 in covered telehealth appointments without any co-pay requirement, as well as up to $1,000 in coverage to diagnose and treat behavioral issues. Fetch is also one of the few providers that covers all teeth — not just the canines — in case your four-legged friend develops periodontal (gum) disease, which occurs in one out of three pets by the age of two.

It could be a great choice for new puppy owners, as pets as young as six weeks old are eligible for coverage. Another great feature is the ability to reinstate coverage of some pre-existing conditions after a pet goes symptom-free for one year.

That said, there are several exclusions owners may need to watch out for in the policy details to avoid any unpleasant surprises later on. They'll also need to get regular health checks and dental exams each year as a condition for ongoing coverage."

Highly recommend

So far, Fetch Insurance has exceeded my expectations. Got insurance this year for my aging dog who had a bunch of preexisting health conditions, which I knew care related would not be covered. But I’m just 1 months time he developed a growth in his mouth and 5 months last Mast cell tumors which needed to be removed. Surgeries totaling over $3,000 out of pocket. Fetch covered them and out of pocket so far only paid around $800. Quick pre approval for time sensitive surgeries and fairly timely on paying out claims. I’ve also never had an issue getting an agent on the phone. I will say the online chat is absolutely useless, just remove it! But Will recommend to anyone with a pet.

Easy to use

After our old pup needed lots of vet care and medicines, we decided that insurance for our new puppy was a good idea. And when she needed to be on long term medication, Fetch was appreciated. It is easy to file claims and reimbursement is prompt. Customer Service is prompt and helpful.
