What is a Veterinarian?

A veterinarian, or doctor of veterinary medicine (DVM), is a medical professional specializing in animal medicine and biology. Vets aim to treat and prevent diseases, injuries, and medical conditions in animals.

Like human medical practitioners, there are veterinarians who work in general practice and veterinarians who specialize in a particular field of veterinary medicine, such as oncology or optometry. In the United States, veterinarians must complete an appropriate veterinary medicine degree and be legally licensed to practice veterinary medicine.

How Veterinarians Work

Veterinarians are essential practitioners who work to keep our pets healthy and thriving. Unfortunately, the cost of seeing veterinarians continues to rise, which is why pet insurance is a great option to make sure that you can do the right thing - no matter the cost.
